FAQ - Employment

What if I need assistance learning all the tasks involved with a new job?

NCHC can provide trained a job coach to assist you with learning a new job along with your supervisor/trainer. We can assist with developing task lists, advocating for accommodations or assistive technology and to promote natural supports at the worksite. We can stay involved as long as you and your employer are comfortable.

What if I am not comfortable with a potential employer knowing I have a disability?

Our services are completely individualized so if you are not comfortable with an employer knowing you have a disability or the that you are working with an employment support agency, we can assist you “behind the scenes” such as resume preparation, applications, helping you to obtain job leads, etc. The same goes for job coaching services once employment is obtained. Our involvement is based on individual needs and what you are comfortable with.

What types of jobs are available?

Unlike temporary or staffing agencies, Vocational Services does not have a “pool” of employers or jobs for clients to pick from. Rather, jobs are secured through direct employer contact for jobs that are based on individual needs and employment interests. All jobs are community based integrated employment that anyone can apply for and is paid at minimum wage or above.

How can I access employment assistance through NCHC Vocational Services?

Through direct referral from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR); Community Care of Central Wisconsin (CCCW) or if you are a client with one of NCHC’s Community Services Mental Health Program’s. Also, you must be of working age and be a voluntary participant.
