Resident Council

The Resident Council provides you with an opportunity to get together and to discuss concerns, to give input regarding your environment and to assist you with projects and activities. A full council meeting is held every three months and sub-committee meetings are held monthly. Your social worker can help you with any information or questions.

Family Council

The Family Council provides your families and decision-makers with informal opportunities to meet and exchange information. The Council serves as a communications liaison between families and nursing home staff and acts as a resource for family members who have questions and concerns.

All family members of nursing home residents become members of the Family Council, which meets four or five times annually for programs, and discussions of general interest. A leadership sub-group sets meeting agendas, suggests programs of interest, and generally offers support and direction to the larger group. Posters, direct mailings, and announcements in the nursing home resident and family newsletter, Expressions, announce family Council meetings.

To learn more about the Family Council, contact the Lead Social Worker or any leadership sub-group member whose names are available at the Mount View Care Center office (848-4300).

Ethics Committee

To help us serve you better, Mount View Care Center established a Nursing Home Ethics Committee in 1992. This Committee was established to assist all health care providers in our organization to know, to understand, to protect, and to respect your ethical rights and welfare as they relate to health care. It does this through educational programs, recommending organizational policies and guidelines in ethically sensitive areas, and by advising on particular cases and serving as a forum for discussion. The Committee is composed of representatives from administration, medicine, nursing, clergy, social services, and community representatives.

Any staff member, resident, family member, surrogate, or physician may request consultation with the Ethics Committee. Names and phone contact numbers of Ethics Committee members are available on all nursing units and the MVCC reception office.
