Resident Possessions/Services
Home Laundry
If you wish to launder clothing yourself, bright blue "Home Laundry"
bags are provided for convenient identification. A decal with the "Home
Laundry" logo (a stenciled house) will be placed on the closet door
as a reminder. Home laundry bags and decals are available from the social
worker. Please wash the bag with each use (to adhere to infection control
standards). After discharge, return the clean bags to the social worker
or the Mount View Care Center front office.
Please note that all personal clothing, including "home wash,"
must be labeled.
Telephones
Telephones are located in the dining rooms, sunporches, day rooms, and
volunteers' lounges for local calling use, free of charge. We ask that
you limit the length of your calls and be aware of others also wishing
to use the phone. Staff can assist you in placing calls, if desired. Long-distance
calling card calls can be place from all of these phones.
Private telephones may be installed in resident rooms. The monthly charges
are your responsibility as this is your private arrangement with the Telephone
Company. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on room location.
Your social worker will help you obtain more information about telephone
installation and costs in your situation, if you so choose.
Cable TV
Cable TV is available in each room at Mount View Care Center and can be
installed in the Health Care Center building.
Mail/Newspaper
Mail is picked up and delivered by the Post Office Monday through Saturday.
You will receive your mail on your nursing unit. Stamps can be purchased
at the Mount View Care Center office or the Cashier's office in the Health
Care Center.
You may wish to subscribe to newspapers and magazines, which will be
delivered to your room. The local newspaper is usually delivered by early
afternoon. Single copies may also be purchased from machines in the lobbies.
Beauty Shop/Barber Shop
Routine hair care (shampoos and sets) is provided by staff and volunteers.
In addition, there are two beauty shops and a licensed barber and beautician
who are available for other hair care services on a charge basis. Arrangements
can be made at the Mount View Care Center office or at the nursing station.
Transportation
When possible, we encourage a family member to transport you to appointments
outside the facility. If this is not possible, the facility will help
you arrange for transportation to doctor and dental appointments or home
visits through community transport services. There is a fee for this service.
Depending on the circumstances, the fee may be reimbursed by Medicare,
Medical Assistance, or your private insurance. To make arrangements for
this transport service, please see the nurse in charge of your care.
