North Central Health Care Welcomes the WI State Assembly Speaker's Task Force on Dementia and Alzheimer's to Wausau on November 18, 2015
(Wausau, WI) North Central Health Care (NCHC) will welcome The Wisconsin State Assembly Speaker’s Task Force on Dementia and Alzheimer’s to the Wausau Campus on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10 am. http://legis.wisconsin.gov/2015/committees/assembly/ad At this public hearing, the Task Force will be receiving education from the Mount View Care Center team on groundbreaking dementia care techniques. Mount View Care Center is known as a leading provider of dementia care services in the State of WI. NCHC’s Adult Protective Services will also be providing information about successful techniques that are used in emergency and protective placement situations.
The Task Force will utilize the information they receive and create initiatives and training to be communicated across the state, as well as ideas to guide possible future legislation. Other organizations to provide testimony for the Task Force include the Alzheimer’s Association, Department of Health Services and the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.

Alzheimer’s and dementia affects 1 in 70 people in their 60’s, and 1 in 3 people in their 80’s. The three main goals of the Task Force are to http://youtu.be/gO2ivLm3pws
- Look at programs in the State of WI that are operating successfully, learn from these programs and develop a plan to expand and educate other caregivers and those affected by dementia.
- Take a look at new programs and initiatives to develop for caregivers and those affected by dementia.
- Look at necessary protections that can be implemented by the State Legislation.
