Preventing Drinking & Driving in Wisconsin

North Central Health Care offers an educational and therapeutic Driving with Care program for people who have had four or more Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) convictions or OWI convictions involving serious accident or injury. Our objectives are to reduce the frequency of drinking and driving, and to help people break their chemical dependence. Services are available to residents of Marathon County.

Driving with Care consists of 33 group sessions held twice a week over four months. Each two-hour group meeting is facilitated by addiction counselors who help teach clients to examine and confront their own patterns of thinking and drinking.

Once an individual has completed Driving with Care, it is expected they will continue individual counseling for an additional five to eight months to ensure what they have learned is applied to daily living.

Referrals for Driving with Care are directed from the local Probation and Parole office.
