Nurses – Here’s to You and All That You Do! Happy Nurses Week May 6 -12, 2013

North Central Health Care is proud of all of our nurses that serve in every one of our programs each and every day – from Wausau, Antigo, Merrill and Tomahawk. We thank you for the important work you do. Your compassion and strength is evident to all of us. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank You and Happy Nurses Week!

The History of National Nurses Week
After years of fighting for a national day of nurse recognition, the ANA established May 6th as National Nurse Day with the help of President Ronald Reagan in 1982. National Nurse Week was created in 1991 when the ANA Board of Directors expanded the celebration to May 6th-12th. To honor the 2.2 million RN's in the US, May 6th was established National RN Recognition Day by the ANA. Nurse Week closes on Florence Nightingale's birthday, recognizing her contribution as the pioneer of modern nursing.
