Community Updates

Salvation Army ShieldThe Salvation Army will be holding a “Harvest Ball” on Thursday, October 31, 2013 to honor and thank all of the kind volunteers from North Central Health Care’s Adult Day and Prevocational Services Programs. All of the honorees at “Harvest Ball” are clients and consumers in the Adult Day and Prevocational Services Programs at North Central Health Care and are developmentally or physically disabled. They have individually contributed hundreds of volunteer hours at the Salvation Army in Wausau over the last year. Several volunteers have given over 400 volunteer hours in 2013 alone! The volunteers have assisted the Salvation Army’s Wausau location with food service and cleanup as well as stocked pantry shelves with food items and necessities. They have learned many social and employment skills through their volunteer efforts, but have mostly learned what it is like to give back to our Central Wisconsin community.

North Central Health Care’s Adult Day and Prevocational Services programs helps adults 18 and older with developmental and physical disabilities reach their greatest social, educational, cognitive, life and community potential by offering a variety of activities in a group setting that stimulates their interest and growth. Monday though Friday, a wide range of programs and activities are available for participants to be involved in. As part of the Prevocational Services programs, adults can productive, responsible and participating members of our community by learning employment skills while promoting self worth through paid work. Being involved with the Salvation Army is just one aspect of how this group of individuals have chosen to give back to our community. North Central Health Care’s Adult Day Services team has been involved with the Salvation Army for four years and the Prevocational Services team.

The Harvest Ball will be held on Thursday, October 31 at 12:30 until 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Recreation Building at 103 South 2nd Avenue in Wausau. Honorees and volunteers will be dressing in costume, dancing, and enjoying the festivities.

North Central Health Care is proud to be a partner with the Salvation Army and also very proud of the volunteer efforts and community service of our Adult Day and Prevocational Services participants.
