Holiday Giving at NCHC: A Small Gift Can Make a Big Difference

A Small Gift Can Make a Big Difference
The holidays are often described as the season of light, warmth, and togetherness. But for many of the individuals receiving care at North Central Health Care, the season can feel very different. Some are spending the holidays away from family. Some are working through personal hardship or recovery. Others are young people navigating crisis during what should be the most joyful time of the year.
This is why the simplest gifts often mean the most.
Right now, NCHC is gathering donations for several of our programs including our Adult Hospital, Youth Hospital, Adult Crisis Stabilization, Youth Crisis Stabilization, and Lakeside Recovery. The people in these programs come from all walks of life, yet they share a common need during the holidays. They need to feel remembered. They need to feel valued. They need to feel cared for.
Your generosity can help fill that space in a way nothing else can.
We are currently in need of items such as:
• Fidget items
• Word search books
• Hats and gloves in varying colors and styles
• Socks
• Blankets
• Coloring books
• Coloring pencils or markers
• Journals
• Decks of cards
• Generic comfort gifts such as mugs or basic hygiene products
These items may look small, but the impact behind them is not. A blanket can mean warmth and safety. A journal can give someone a place to process their emotions. A simple deck of cards can create moments of connection during long days in treatment. A pair of soft socks can remind someone they are not forgotten.
When you give, you are not just providing an item. You are offering comfort. You are offering dignity. You are offering hope.
How to Donate
All donated items can be dropped off at the NCHC Guest Services front desk at 2400 Marshall Street in Wausau. Our team will make sure your gifts are thoughtfully distributed to those who need them most throughout the holiday season.
If you have ever wondered how to make a meaningful difference at this time of year, this is one heartfelt way to do it. Because kindness does not have to be big to be powerful. It only has to be shared.
Thank you for helping us brighten the season for the individuals in our care. Your compassion matters more than you know.
